Cairo and Doha are currently engaged in attempts to convince the Palestinian faction to accept the former US president's demand to halt the conflict in the Gaza Strip, per the Egyptian foreign minister.

Increasing Diplomatic Pressure on the Group

Badr Abdelatty declared that the time had come for Hamas to disarm and avoid providing Israeli forces any justification to persist in its offensive in the region, where 28 Palestinians were fatally struck on Friday.

“Hamas should not be used as an excuse for the relentless killing of innocents, a situation that has worsened significantly since last year,” Abdelatty remarked.

He added that Egypt is “working alongside Qatar and Turkey to encourage Hamas to accept the proposal”.

Key Points of the Peace Plan

This proposal would demand the group to:

• Disarm and withdraw from political activities
• Hand over the captives in custody from the October incident, including two dozen are presumed to be still alive

In return, Israel would:

• Gradually withdraw its military from the territory
• Substituted by an international force
• Accept a temporary government headed by Trump

Observers agree that the initiative would spell an end to its existence as an militant organization, while Israel would give little ground.

Split Opinions within the Faction

The organization is reportedly split over how to respond, with factions requesting more time to evaluate the proposal.

A senior commander has resisted the proposal, considering it a tactic to eliminate the group if they comply.

Insiders suggest that the faction is expected to request changes regarding:

• Disarmament terms
• Continued presence of military in the area
• Guarantees that the group’s leadership will not be pursued

Civilian Suffering Worsens

Israel persisted in its operations in the northern area and shelling across the territory on Friday, killing two dozen individuals.

Several of the those killed were in Gaza City, while the rest perished in southern Gaza, with three in an Israeli drone strike in al-Masawi, which had been once declared a secure area.

The Israeli military issued its ultimate directive for Gaza City on earlier this week, with the top defense official announcing that those who stay would be deemed affiliated with armed groups, a classification that defies global norms.

Numerous of civilians remain stranded in the city, including those who cannot afford the journey to southern Gaza, which is said to cost over a thousand dollars.

Medical Services under Severe Strain

Medical facilities in the south are stretched to the limit, with the medical unit serving more than double its normal limits.

Earlier, al-Nasser hospital admitted 27 bodies of people fatally wounded by the troops.

The head of paediatrics referred to the situation as “very hard”.

Israeli forces has been alleged to be targeting hospitals and medical workers, with healthcare professional said to be “abducted” while on duty in a southern city.

Authorities has asserted that arrested medical officials had links with Hamas, though offering no substantiation.

Fatalities from hostilities in Gaza has amounted to at least 62,622 Palestinians killed and about 170,000 hurt, as reported by the Gaza health authority.
